After a hard days work there is nothing like unwinding to music and there is nothing that can do the work better than a bit of punk rock. Punk is a rock music genre that came into existence in about the mid 1970’s. Back then it was mostly influenced by a large variety of prototype punk music of the 1960’s and 1970’s. It started and spread rapidly in countries like the United States, UK and also in Australia. It was bands like The Ramones, Sex Pistols and the Clash that spearheaded the punk band movement. Initially it was not recognized as mainstream music. It is mostly listened to by the youth since everything about punk bands, the music and the lyrics talk about things that every person can relate to in a funky way. Rock singers or UK punk bands are also known famously for their distinctive clothing style. Many times punk bands or their music genre is accused of being an anti establishment, because all it speaks about is human emotions or freedom. It wasn’t long before UK punk bands and their cool music became a major phenomenon. 13th Floor Elevators, The Velvet Underground, Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, Graham Parker & the Rumour, The Mothers of Invention, The Rolling Stones, Ton Steine Scherben, The Flamin' Groovies, Green Day, The Who, The Saints, Third World War, Rocket From The Tombs, The Dictators, The Edgar Broughton Band, The Electric Eels, The Modern Lovers, and The Music Machine are some of the prominent punk bands that have inspired punk rock enthusiasts for ages. The UK has always embraced punk rock and punk bands. The Beatles are one of the most famous pop punk bands of the earlier years. They were ranked number one by the Rolling Stones Magazine on the list of hundred greatest bands of all times. |
